THE LOOK AND THE STRUCTURE
The defining feature is the stepped metal stringer: the structural support follows the rise and depth of the treads, creating a zigzag outline when viewed from the side.
This makes it a strong option for an entrance hall, open-plan interior or landing where the profile can be seen. The oak finish and metal colour can create contrast or sit more quietly alongside the surrounding interior.
“Zigzag” describes the side profile. The staircase can follow a straight route or include turns to suit the space.

MAKE IT YOURS
Consider the staircase from the side as well as from the front. The metal outline, oak grain and balustrade all contribute to the finished appearance.
BEFORE YOU CHOOSE
The floor opening, floor levels and available headroom determine which layouts can work. A zigzag profile is a design choice; the right footprint still needs to be checked for your building.
Send us plans, photographs and approximate dimensions to start the discussion. We can work with you, your architect or your builder to review the details before manufacture.
Unsure whether a standard shape will fit? Speak to us before placing your order.
Include the planned floor finishes at both levels, so the staircase is designed around the completed space.
Share the opening’s length and width, your preferred starting point and where the staircase needs to reach the landing.
Show which sides face the room and where guarding is needed. This helps coordinate the profile, glass and handrail.
Provide available floor and landing details, photos of the area and information about access for delivery and installation.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Comparing staircase styles or planning a replacement? Send us your drawings or speak to our team.
The zigzag system makes the stepped side profile a visible part of the design. A central spine staircase uses a beam beneath the middle of the treads, while a floating staircase keeps its support visually discreet. The best choice depends on the appearance you prefer and the layout and structure of your property.
It may be possible, depending on the opening, floor levels, headroom and supporting structure. The zigzag profile does not automatically make a staircase more compact. Send us photographs and any available plans so we can discuss a suitable layout and any building work needed.
We offer a wide stain range and colour matching for the premium European oak treads. Share a sample of your flooring or another finish you would like to coordinate with. Natural oak grain varies, so individual pieces will not look completely identical.
Yes, we can discuss alternative details for your project. The standard online package includes glass balustrade and an oak handrail. Any alternative balustrade, handrail or additional landing guarding should be reviewed and priced before the specification is agreed.
Lighting preparation can be discussed as part of your specification. Confirm the groove detail and whether LED strips, drivers and electrical work are included in your agreed package. Lighting shown in project photographs is not automatically included in the standard online price.
Manufacturing takes approximately 4–6 weeks from approval of the drawings. Design, revisions, delivery and installation are discussed separately around your project programme.
Yes. We provide installation instructions and advice for customers using their own installer. Confirm the installation scope and site preparation with us. OVOMS installation is also available at an additional cost.
Share your plans and we can discuss a fully bespoke staircase. You can also compare all four staircase systems if you are still deciding which design suits your project.
